At Empathy Education and Training, we believe that bringing animals and children together should lead to benefit for both.

The purpose of this site is to bring you information about our animals, the children they help and how the area of animal assisted programming can bring hope and joy.

Empathy Education & Training was started in 2005, with the aim of designing and delivering animal assisted programs for young people.

The Director is Nerys, who started her career as a marine ecologist and student of zoology. She has worked for over a decade as a special needs teacher and has won two national awards for teaching excellence and innovation.

Since 2005, Empathy Education & Training has delivered programs to many children and young people in its home state of Victoria, Australia. The success of this work continues to reinforce our belief in the healing power of positive contact with animals and has lead to increasing awareness of the potential of animal assisted work in trauma recovery for children and young people.

It has also been our privilege to work with the Royal New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RNZSPCA). They are making great inroads into the delivery of Empathy Education programs. We are delighted to have contributed to their groundbreaking approach to promoting kindness and compassion towards children and animals.

The field of Animal Assisted Therapy is still growing in Australia, and we are happy to be involved in the development of this growing field, with its enormous potential to benefit all manner of human and non-human animals.
